JOURNEYS (2008)
SUE RIDGE
"Where are Long Nose Spit and Jury’s Gut Sluice? Journeys is a series of artworks which respond to Jean Fraser’s coastal bicycle journey. The map is seen as a narrative; the x-ray light boxes expose embodied life experiences."

DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH (2008)
ROSA AINLEY
A two-part sound installation that takes the obsolete concrete sound mirrors of the Kent coast as a starting point for a monologue about breath, voice, communication and the experience of spasmodic dysphonia.
“Breathe in before you speak, speak on the out breath. Don’t hold your breath. Save your breath, don’t bother me. Keep your words and ideas to yourself. Hold your breath and disappear. Talk to yourself: back projection instead of not being heard. If you had anything useful to say you’d be able to say it. Either way, you can’t deliver. (But I’m talking to you). Voice is body, person projected. Hear my face, see my voice.”
