POSTSCRIPT

The ride finished in Sandown, Isle of Wight on 29th June. Total mileage (including off route diversions, errands etc), is 188.8 miles, quite a lot more than I had anticipated.

The journey has so far raised around £700 for the British Lung Foundation at www.justgiving.com/jeanfraser.

Since finishing, the campaign by Workers' Climate Action to keep open the Vestas factory has not been successful. The closure of the factory, which made turbine blades for wind farms, has deprived the Isle of Wight, which has some of the highest unemployment in the country, of much needed jobs.

Having accumulated miles in my legs, as the cyclists say, I am settling back into life at home, fitter and healthier than when I left and trying to preserve this sense of wellbeing. And wondering: where next?
